Under the concept of "Commonwealth", Nevada National Guard units are called Air Reserve Components (ARC) of the United States Air Force (USAF). Nevada ANG units are trained and equipped by the Air Force and operate under a USAF Command while federal. In addition, the Nevada Air Guard is assigned to the Air Expeditionary Forces and is responsible for coordinating operations with them and the Air Force Reserve in their window rotation program.
Along with their federal reserve responsibilities, as state military units Nevada ANG facilities are obligated to operate by order of the Governor to provide security of life and property, and preserve peace, harmony and public safety. The city's missions include disaster relief during earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and wildfires, search and rescue, protection of critical public services, and support for civil defense.
In total, the Nevada Air National Guard maintains a base in three of the state's 17 counties and 64 acres (260,000 m).

Air handling was done to provide quick air and air transportation of cargo and troops. It also flies Intelligce, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) using "Scathe View" on electromagnetic and infrared sources to support military command and control operations, drug sales, accident prevention and mapping for federal agencies and of the state.
The MQ-1 serves as a component with the USAF 432d Operations Group conducting global unmanned air, combat support, and air support missions.

After the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 in the United States, elements of each unit of the Air National Guard were deployed in Nevada to support the Global War on Terrorism. Flight attendants, flight attendants, communications engineers, air traffic controllers and air defense personnel were assigned to Operation Noble Eagle to fly on planes in major cities of the United States. Additionally, Nevada ANG units have deployed overseas as part of Operation Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq and other locations as directed.
