Under the concept of "Commonwealth", Nevada National Guard units are called Air Reserve Components (ARC) of the United States Air Force (USAF). Nevada ANG units are trained and equipped by the Air Force and operate under a USAF Command while federal. After the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 in the United States, elements of each unit of the Air National Guard were deployed in Nevada to support the Global War on Terrorism.
